The Selkirk Rex is a cat which comes from the United States. He was first discovered in Wyoming in 1987 by a worker who found a cat in curly hair.
He brought to a breeder of Persian: Jeri Newman.

The cat named Miss De Pesto of no deal was cross with a black Persian and gave birth to 3 kittens and 3 curly not curly. Thereafter, curly kittens were crossed with Persian, English and the Exotic to develop lined Selkirk Rex.

The Selkirk Rex is named mountains near the birthplace of the first cat at the origin of the race. Some people said that the name Selkirk Rex was given in tribute to the stepfather of the student ...
